For our malting barley growers, there was a great article in Farmers Weekly from Dorset-based father and son growers who won the malting barley award. There are lots of positive actions to take away from their approach and we hope to have an online session with them in the future.
Listen
My favourite podcast at the moment is an Australian one called ‘Secrets of the soil’. There is a huge library of podcasts to listen to sharing a wealth of information. If you just have time for one, then Episode 69: ‘Magic of Microbes’ is a great listen.
Some of the LENs team have also been enjoying the ‘Grounded’ podcast from Regenerate Outcomes. I enjoyed the episode ‘Is no till enough?’ and ‘tools and equipment for regenerative agriculture’. You can catch up on these on their website or on Spotify.

We recognise many of you are at the forefront of the regen agriculture movement. As an industry we need to actively seek out opportunities to promote what we do to a wide audience. Celebrating regenerative farming’s success stories will help drive support, encourage other farmers to embark on the journey and to buy products that have been grown regeneratively. Opportunities to talk to the media can be daunting. So ‘Just Farmers’ are offering free media training to help farmers use their voice for positive change. If you get the opportunity to talk about LENs, please let us know, as Carole, our lovely and supportive Communications Lead could provide some guidance.
Come and say hello at these events
Advance notice for your diaries for those in the UK or farmers further afield who are interested in a work trip. Please come and see us 10-11 June at Cereals and on 1-2 July at Groundswell. We really want to encourage people to come to Groundswell, as there are so many opportunities to learn and be inspired by. It is such a fun and friendly few days that I always leave feeling encouraged by.
